Three young Oglala Lakota Indian boys are out hunting for a hinsko (so big, so large) bull moose and are camped for the days end. The three are sharing campfire stories and the leader of the three is telling a campfire story about an old capa (beaver). The leader’s name is Mato Ḣota (a grizzly bear) and it is his turn to ‘one up’ the others in telling his campfire story. His story is funny and all are laughing including himself, as he weaves his story to the end. All the while, a giant golden colored mato ḣota (grizzly bear, who the Lakota leader happens to be named after), has heard their laughing and is sneaking in to attack them, after they have gone into their blankets for the night. When the huge golden grizzly starts his charge in attacking the boys, the leader Mato Ḣota hears him and throws his spear, wounding the giant grizzly. The giant grizzly pulls the spear from his shoulder and bites it into and continues his charge in a deep rage, with his eyes focused on Mato Ḣota, who wounded him.A bright blue tunnel of light lands between the charging golden grizzly and the young Lakota leader, saving him. Tatanka Ska Son, a white buffalo appears from the blue tunnel of light and scares the giant golden grizzly away. Tatanka Ska Son repeats the funny story Mato Ḣota told, but points out the true meaning and value of the story and that is love for a friend, a neighbor and all children of Mother Earth.
